Marriage Missing its Spark?

May 31, 2007

If the fires of passion in your marriage have been reduced nearly to embers, then you are not alone. One of the most common problems that can damage a marriage is the loss of spark?or spice, or whatever you like to call it. It’s really not so easy to get yourself or your partner "in the mood" once you have become very familiar with each other. Of course, it’s wonderful to be familiar with your spouse because familiarity is the basis of intimacy. But intimacy is not the same as passion, is it? Routine is the culprit. If the proper countermeasures are not deployed against routine’s assault on your relationship, then it will drain all the passion right out of your marriage. Routine is a tenacious killer of passion?a suspect in the deaths of over 1 million steamy romances. I know routine comes in very handy for showers and oil changes, but it has no place in the bedroom.

Baby Birth Announcements—Announcing a New Addition
 by: Angela Oliver

Getting ready for a new addition to the family is a very busy time. New or experienced parents would like nothing more for everything to go smoothly. However, there is a long list of tasks to complete before baby arrives. If parents want to share their excitement with friends and family, a baby birth announcement is one of the most important tasks to complete.

It may be difficult to decide the style of baby birth announcement to send out. One great idea is to choose a style that coordinates with your nursery. Lots of work has already gone into making the nursery ready for baby. Choose a similar style for the baby birth announcement and save time deciding on a theme.

Another great idea for the birth announcement is to include a photo-that is if the parents have time. It can be difficult to get a great picture and can take some time. It is important to be patient when taking pictures but eventually a shot worthy of the baby birth announcement will be taken. A photo taken with parents and new baby are a great way to share with everyone the new family entity. If it is too difficult or too time consuming to take a picture right after baby birth, send the announcement first and then send pictures at a later date.

Marriage and the Election

May 29, 2007

Dear Friends of Marriage,

There is a lot of talk on both sides in this election that this is the most important election this century. Most of this is exaggeration to try and motivate people to vote for one candidate or the other. But in one area this is true.

Depending on who wins this election, marriage as we know it may never be the same. In the last debate President Bush said he was for a marriage amendment because you cannot trust activist judges on the court. We have already begun to see this happen. On October 5 a Louisiana judge voided the constitutional amendment that was passed this past spring by the State Leislature and passed the public vote by 78%.

After Novembers election over one third of the states will have a constitutional amendment or law defining marriage as being between one man and one woman. Senator Kerry when ask the same question about a marriage amendment sighted the number of states with laws or amendments as reason to not have a constitutional amendment. This argument sound great but now we see that the courts could over rule all these laws and amendments.

Co-Dependency

May 28, 2007

Co-Dependency is an unhealthy reliance on another person for every thought, action, and feeling. It consists of people who seem to be defined by another other person. One person relies so much on another person’s opinion — that the daily functions they once had as an individual are lost. That individual is no longer capable of making his or her own choices.
A person who is co-dependant is constantly striving to please another person and have made them selves so self-less that they begin to lose who they are. Their life becomes a sacrifice for another person.
A person who is co-dependant ceases to be them self and becomes part of two. A person’s want for someone else in their life is overcome with the need to have someone else in their life in order to function. The person feels the need to spend every waking moment thinking about that other person, being with them, talking to them, or thinking of ways to make that person happier.

While a marriage should strive to do those items, there is a happy medium and for a lack of a better term, co-dependency could be considered as ’stalking’. The constantly calling them, seeing them, thinking about them, giving them things — are traits of stalkers who feed their need off the presence of the other person.

Baby Bedtime Fussiness

Baby Bedtime Fussiness
 by: Chase Winters

If you are able to get your baby right to bed at night and have them sleep for a few hours at a time, it can feel like a wonderful victory. But, if your baby fusses about going to bed and then reawakens every few hours, it can be very frustrating (unless it’s a new baby and then it’s to be expected). If your baby isn’t cooperating with bedtime on a nightly basis, you might want to think about what you’re doing during the day with your baby that could be affecting how they are sleeping at night.

Babies need routine and if you don’t follow one at all, it could be messing up their internal clock. We have to be the ones to help our children understand when it’s time to play and when it’s time to sleep. When they are very young, we do this by setting up a routine that we stick to whenever possible. A bath first thing in the morning followed by a feeding and playtime is a great example of a morning routine, while a bedtime story, a feeding and a lullaby is a perfect nighttime routine. After you have followed the same pattern for awhile, your baby will begin to remember what comes next.

Dating Tips for Divorced and Widowed Moms

May 26, 2007

Dating is tough for just about everybody, but it’s even tougher for people who are divorced and widowed. Along with the fears of being "out of practice," there are often children’s feelings to consider.

How can a single mother enjoy a new romance without lying awake at night worrying about doing emotional damage to her children? Personal Strengths and Life Coach Sue Tosto of Garfield, New Jersey provides the answers.

1. How soon after divorce or the death of a husband is it appropriate to start dating? It depends on the individual, but anyone going through a divorce should wait at least six months to one year before even considering dating someone new. Emotions are running high, and a person needs time to heal before putting herself back on the market. Some newly divorced or widowed people jump into relationships too early because they’re afraid of being alone. That’s almost always a mistake. The first year after a divorce is the time to re-group and focus on making new friendships. A woman can reflect on all the things she wanted to do when she was married but didn’t. This is a rough time emotionally, but it helps to view it as a fresh start. It’s the perfect time to re-develop a sense of self and decide what one really wants in life. A woman can consider what she hopes for in a new relationship and let go of the past in the process. Dating after the death of a husband or partner is also not recommended for at least one full year. Two years is even better. The grieving process should never be rushed, and the length of time it takes for the bereaved to move on varies according to the individual.

Seven Ways to Survive a Remodel (And Save Your Marriage) Tips from Pisa Design, Inc

May 25, 2007

Remodels are tough on everyone. The house is out of order, the refrigerator is out of pudding, and the family wiener dog is out of sorts as he searches for his food dish. To help ease the stress of a remodel, we suggest you follow the list of tips below.

1. Invest in “his” and “hers” robes. During a remodel, your house in no longer your own. Everyone from Pete the plumber to Earl the electrician walks through your home at all hours with little regard for privacy. If you’d rather they concentrate on the work in front of them instead of you walking by them, we suggest you invest in some robes-preferable terry cloth for their comfort and thickness.

2. Stuff your speed dial with take-out. Even if the kitchen isn’t part of your remodeling project, it’s a good idea to create a robust file of take-out and delivery menus from local restaurants. Place settings and candles on a cardboard box where your dining room table used to be aren’t motivation for anyone to prepare five-course meals. And you never know when you may find yourself without electricity, natural gas or water. Plus, delivery guys need the tips.

My Search For Reality in TV Revealed Satellite TV and Television’s Future, Now.
 by: Danny Planet

I never dreamed of TV becoming amazing again - I was the guy with 12 o’clock blinking green on his VCR. Yes, I said VCR. So getting the hang of today’s TV was not a piece of cake.

Recently, during an emergency replace-ectomy of my dying Zenith behemoth, I realized I was in deep trouble. Never mind DVD. Who knew of progressive scan and digital convergence. Aspect ratios and digital comb filters. Anti-glare coatings and so many lines of resolution? I knew of the tv satellite dish, but…

This was a long way from the TV I was nurtured on?

I remember seeing Elvis on the Ed Sullivan Show gyrating inside a black & white-glass-globe-picture-tube about as small as the window on a front-load washer.

Man did the warm glow of that box-at-the-end-of-a-wire get me excited.

Oh, I watched plenty alright! And you know what? I can’t remember ever complaining about getting up from the couch to change the channel or to adjust the antenna.

Then, Wagon Train on a 19 inch “color set” was about as good as it got.
