There Is Life After Divorce

June 30, 2007

A married woman becomes a single woman for one of two reasons: death or divorce. The former is an honourable state, the latter is not.

When a woman loses her husband to death the neighbours all rally round and provide meals and any help they can give with regard to household repairs or cleaning or anything that is needed. They are willing to provide comfort and a shoulder to cry on. They are available for the widow and they include her in their activities, feeling sorry for her that she is now so alone.

However, things are quite different when a marriage ends due to infidelity or marital breakdown. That immediately plunges a woman into a new category. She is transformed, instantaneously it seems, from a married woman to a divorcee. Becoming one of many, part of a group of used and discarded women, seen as suspect by all those who are still safely ensconced in the womb of their marriage.

Wedding Planning: Involve your Fiancé in 10 Easy Steps

June 29, 2007

He’s popped the question. You’ve chosen a date. And now, you’re swimming in a sea of euphoria with no horizons. Good thing, too, because there are literally a thousand things to arrange before the big day.

You do the research, buckle under and dive in. But you find your fiancé’s ardor for the event itself seems to have cooled. It’s not that he isn’t mad about marrying you; after all, he is a great guy, even if he can’t tell a Vera Wang from a Gunny Sack. It’s that his preparation style is hands-off, to say the least. And planning a wedding isn’t a job built for one.

So what to do? Here are ten ways to involve him without increasing both of your stress loads:

1) Delegate areas that have a prayer of interesting him.

The worst thing you can do is expect him to match your ten to twenty years of feminine wisdom on the relative merits of buttercream vs. fondant.

Here are some probable no areas when roping in a reluctant wedding planner:

- Selecting the cake frosting - Choosing the favors or favor packaging - Selecting the wedding colors or floral arrangements

Hooking Up vs. Lasting Love: Its Your Choice

June 28, 2007

“hooking Up” - “friends with benefits” - “booty call”

These terms have become all too familiar in today’s dating world. Are they words that you can relate to? Have you lived them in some way? If so, how have you felt about the experience(s) both during and after? Chances are that you have mixed feelings at best. Depending on your age and sex, you may give a somewhat different response to this question. Whatever your answer, a close look at this “dating experience” that impacts so many singles in so many ways may be useful to you as you think about what your long-term relationship goals are and what you REALLY want from a relationship.

So what exactly do these terms mean?

“Hooking up” is getting together for sex. There is generally no formal “date” involved.

“Friends with benefits” usually refers to two people who are “friends” who also have sex together. Again, there’s a distinction between what they share and “dating”.

“Booty call” usually describes the act of a man (woman) calling up another person to come over for sex. The sex doesn’t follow dinner, a movie or other “quality” time together, getting to really know each other. It’s physical.

Baby Shower Writing Games
 by: Concrete Abstract

Writing games are great to have at baby showers! Not only do they encourage everyone to participate and interact with each other, but the papers and cards themselves serve as a wonderful keepsake for the mom-to-be. Just collect the cards and papers into a memory box or scrapbook, and she’ll have a timeless snapshot of that special day.

Below are some writing games you’re bound to enjoy. It’s a good idea to match all the papers, cards and invitations to each other so that they’ll coordinate nicely when you present them in a memory box or scrapbook to the mom-to-be.

“My first” predictions

Everyone will have milestones that mark important moments in their lives — including the baby! Guests fill up blank cards predicting the baby’s future milestones, such as “my first date,” “my first day in pre school,” “my first friend,” etc. They can write the experiences like a journal entry, as if the baby were explaining what happened on that particular occasion.

Choosing a Wedding Date ?- When You?re Feeling Indecisive

June 26, 2007

He ? or she ? asked, and you answered in the affirmative! Now’s the time to bask in the romance, and enjoy the first phase of your new life together. But soon, you’ll need a response for that timeless question: “when’s the wedding?”

For some couples, it’s easy ? they know just when they want to tie the knot. For others, it’s less clear. After all, you have a lot of options. Even more than you might think, since it’s really not necessary to get married on a Saturday. Friday and Sunday afternoons are good choices too, and less expensive.

So if you’re looking at the calendar ahead and seeing a hundred alternatives, all about equally attractive, here’s how to narrow them down.

Must-have venues

No matter how flexible you are, there’s bound to be things you won’t compromise on. Maybe it’s a particular church, temple and officiant for your ceremony. Maybe it’s a special venue for your reception. And there are certain indispensable guests, like your parents.

Luckily for you, putting just these three things together is bound to reduce your choices. Once you call on the church/temple, ceremony venue or reception hall, you’ll probably find many dates already filled, especially if you call less than nine months in advance. Good. That makes things easier!

Dog Food: Even Fido’s Gotta Eat
 by: Allen Shaw

You’ve brought home your new best friend. You’ve read all the books. You’ve purchased all the latest gadgets. He has more toys than you ever had as a child. And you’ve made the appointment with the vet to get Fido his first set of shots. You’re doneright? WRONG! Your new pup still hasn’t eaten yet. So what do you feed him? Dry dog food, can dog food or people foodwhat’s the best choice? Well, all have their pros and cons. But some dogs are very finicky. So just know that if he gets used to a certain kind of food, he may never want to switch. So choose carefully.

When you go to pet store to buy food there are a few things you should look for. First, whatever type of food you decide to feed your dog, know what’s in the bag. What does this meanread the ingredients! The first three ingredients listed on a bag of dog food makes up about 80% of what’s actually in the bag. If beef, chicken or liver aren’t listed until Ingredient seven or eight, how much beef, chicken or liver do you think your dog is actually ingesting? I’ll tell younot much.

5 Tips to Save Money Online
 by: Savotron.com

Are you looking to save money on everything you buy? The good news is that it is much easier to save money at online stores, than to do that at offline stores. On the Internet you can find the same stores, same products, and everything else you need, without having to leave the house to shop. And, the products are mailed to your doorstep, so that you don’t have to carry the products from the store to the car and from the car to the house.

Here are five different ways for you to save money on all of your online purchases:

- Know what you need. Just like with regular shopping, having a shopping list really helps. When you know you need to purchase a dress, a shirt and a pair of shoes, you will not overspend; rather, you will shop for the items on your list.

- Compare prices. Once great thing about the Internet, is that you can compare prices at different stores, before making a buying decision. This is especially important when you are looking for a big item - a computer, TV or a camera. Look around a few web stores, before deciding on the store and particular item to buy.

True Love And Chemistry: Exploring Myth And Reality

June 24, 2007

When you think about the qualities found in a true “soul mate” relationship, what one word comes up most often on the top of your list?

Is it CHEMISTRY? Probably.

Just the mention of this term conjures up powerful feelings and images for anyone who has ever been in or seeking a love relationship. It is often described as a feeling that leaves you breathless, excited and weak in the knees. Palms sweat, the heart races and the body tingles with nervous anticipation.

It is believed by virtually everyone that true love cannot exist without chemistry. Therefore, the conclusion most would-be lovers come to is that if they experience these intense feelings towards someone, they have the basis for an ideal and lasting relationship.

Right? Maybe not. For this definition of chemistry is limited to one’s physical response to another person. It lacks an entire dimension that resides in our values, beliefs, personalities and worldview

In order to know you have the right connection with a potential (or existing) partner, it’s important to have a basic knowledge of what real chemistry consists of, instead of embracing only the myths that surround it. This can be difficult to do. This intense, physical passion is the stuff that Oscar winning movies and best-selling books are made of. So, take a step back for a minute and see if you recognize yourself in the following.

8 Questions Brides Ask About Setting up a Wedding Registry

June 23, 2007

In theory, setting up a registry is simple. You decide on one or several stores, create a registry online or in person, select various items, and get the word out to your guests. In practice, things are a little more complicated — but only a little!

With that said, here’s the real deal on setting up your wedding registry and getting the word out without offending your guests. Remember that retailers can be an enormous help to both you and your guests. At the same time, you can’t take everything they say at face value.

Q: Where should I register?

A: Chances are, if you’re getting married in your own town, you already know where “everyone goes” to set up and shop from a registry. If not, and guests are flying in from far away, pick from some bride-tested standbys likely to be present almost anywhere. Macy’s has a great reputation for registries, as does Williams-Sonoma, Bed Bath & Beyond and other retailers.
