 by: Christine Albury

Tofu for baby - discover how this amazing food can benefit

your baby’s diet.

Tofu - that’s just for vegetarians, right?

Wrong.

Tofu is a highly nutritious food that, rather than being

seen as just an alternative to meat, should be included in

your baby’s diet on its own merits!

Tofu is part of the legume family. It is fermented soymilk

that cheese is made from milk. Tofu is a rich source of

protein, calcium, iron, fibre and fatty acids - key

components for good nutrition.

There are two basic types of tofu - hard/firm tofu, often

used in recipes that needs a consistency which holds

together well - and soft or silken tofu, generally used for

desserts, smoothies, soups and sauces.

Fresh tofu has a sweet aroma when opened - any sour odour

would indicate that it is stale and should not be used for

Bachelor Dream

October 28, 2007

Step aside Hugh Hefner. Elvis King is back in the building.

Bachelors, remember the guy in high school who got all the girls. Maybe he was the home coming king or the football captain. He’s Probably not getting the girls any more. I am sure he married the home coming queen and has four kids by now. And you should see the fat little wife he has. But not you and the Loverboy Bachelor, your eternal bachelors. Why a bachelor at 56? Because I love it. There’s nothing like the thrill of a new girl. A new date every single day. I hold the world record of beautiful young girlfriends 18 to 22 years old. (Girlfriends no pros) And I have came close a few times to giving it all up and marrying one of my dream girls. I frequent a few exotic fantasy islands. One of my favorite islands holds the Miss Universe crown. I laugh at poor Donald Trump knocking himself dead to find beautiful girls and he rarely gets lucky. And I know secret bachelor hide-aways where virtually no westerner has ever walked before. And If he ever was at one of my bachelor hide-aways he is probably one of those guys who just doesn’t know how to pick up girls and went home empty handed. Wouldn’t it have been nice if you could have been the best buddy of a rock star or a movie star who gets all the girls. Well you just got lucky. No rock star or movie star has ever had more girlfriends than your buddy Elvis.

Kitchen Remodeling - Getting it done.

Kitchen Remodeling - Getting it done.
 by: Jon Leger

Kitchen remodeling is one of the most desirable home improvement projects for many homeowners. It works because it is the art of sensible design and when you feel good your life goes in a positive direction creating for you wealth, health and happiness. But it requires careful thinking about how you live and what you want.

The important thing with kitchen remodeling is to know your budget, do your research and know what things cost and how much you want to spend. It can be hard to know where to begin and what concepts to use. Success requires the right preparation. With kitchen remodeling, not everybody has to enjoy the process of hunting and finding that perfect thing for their house or one particular object that’s going to make a room.

If I were you I would call a general contractor and see if you can get a free estimate. Considering that a minor kitchen remodeling will most likely cost you thousands of dollars, and you don’t want to blow that money on mistakes, a professional may be in order. Once you know the basic design principals, find out about kitchen cabinet choices at Cabinet Basics or learn all about countertops at New and Traditional Countertop Choices, and the advantages and disadvantages of the various flooring materials for kitchens at Flooring Options for Kitchens and Baths. It helps to feel and touch an item to make a better decision about the most appropriate solution.

Ten Tips for Writing Your Perfect Wedding Vows

October 27, 2007

1. Start with a nice clean piece of paper (lavender is good, but any kind will work). Down the left side of the page, write the numbers 1-10. Now ? without stopping to think about it, fill in this page! Write down the first 10 things that come to mind in response to this sentence: "I love (my partner’s name) because . . . " Set this piece of paper aside.

2. Now ? how about YOU? What do YOU bring to this union? What promises will you make? Take another sheet of paper, and write ‘em down ? don’t worry about spelling, grammar, or anything else at this point. Just write down 4-5 things you want to promise this very special person with whom you want to spend your life.

? Do you promise to be there in bad times as well as good?

? Do you promise to be faithful with your body as well as with your mind and heart?

? Do you promise to support your partner even when he/she isn’t perfect?

? Do you promise to share all your resources? Some?

? What about if he/she gets sick? What about if you have a serious fight?

Awareness of Autism

Awareness of Autism
 by: Ben Sidman

Promoting awareness can help people understand what autism is, how it affects people and appreciate that this is a condition that many people have. If everyone knew the symptoms, the behaviors and the way it affects others then autistic people would be treated according to who they are and how they think.

As long as there are people that don’t understand autism, there are still people that stare at autistic people as if they are strange or don’t understand why parents are taking care of their children in a certain way.

But awareness is not just about teaching the public about what autism is, it is also for people that don’t recognise symptom behaviors in their children. It is for people that have autistic children but don’t know all the facts or techniques available. It is for governments to be reminded there is a large population who have needs that should be respected. It is for schools and teachers to understand how autistic people think and feel so that they can talk to them and teach them in a way they can understand.

Wedding Rings ? Through the Ages and for All Eternity

October 25, 2007

The exact origin of the wedding ring is uncertain and is rife with superstition and mythology. Papyruses dating back to the ancient Egyptian civilization depict wedding rings, and historians credit the land of the Pharaohs with originating this tradition. Engagement or betrothal rings were in use as far back as prehistoric times, but the wedding ring is a relatively new tradition, and unlike the engagement ring, is steeped in religious ritual.

In ancient times, accepting a wedding ring constituted a legally binding agreement between husband and wife. The wife became property of the husband, a holding of sorts. It also represented protection to the wife-a protection against challengers seizing her legal and rightful position in a power grab.

Early Egyptian wedding rings were simple circular bands, crudely crafted from indigenous materials such as hemp and reeds. The lifespan of the average wedding ring was approximately one year. It’s a safe bet that the average marriage outlasted the average wedding band, since the eternal circle signified eternal love and devotion. The circle also represented the joining of two halves to create a whole. The hole in the center symbolized the gateway to the unknown-the future. Wedding bands of ivory, leather, and other sturdy materials were crafted by those who desired a more permanent token of eternity.

Cut Cupid Some Slack

October 23, 2007

Valentine’s Day!

What a great idea to set aside a day for remembering those we love. It’s even more than just remembering; it’s romancing.

But it is also a holiday that many dread.

Because of the romantic tradition of this holiday, many hearts feel isolated, alone and left out. Many dread it so much, that they will not even venture out to a restaurant or movie on this day that seems to be set-aside for lovers.

Why are so many people alone?

Why are Cupid’s arrows not landing?

While I don’t feel I have satisfactory answers to these questions, I would like to share a few perspectives here for us all to ponder. Agree or disagree, perhaps these insights can be helpful.

Let’s take a look at a few of the arrows many ask to be shot from Cupid’s arsenal and see if this helps us understand this dilemma a little better.

Arrow 1 - The Bulls-Eye Arrow

With this arrow, Cupid is asked to hit dead center of the bulls-eye. This is what I call the must-be-perfect-to-be-my-love-interest arrow.
