Choosing Your Wedding Rings
March 31, 2009
One of the most important steps in planning your wedding, is choosing the wedding ring set. Finding the right rings could actually be considered the most critical part of your ceremony actually, because the wedding bands will be worn by the bride and groom for the rest of their lives.
Wedding bands have become a great deal more ornate than they used to be. And Diamond wedding bands have gotten very popular in recent years, thanks to the celebrities who proudly display theirs.
Wedding rings are no longer just your standard gold these days though. Many wedding bands and ring sets are made of platinum and titanium. And while 10k gold rings were once considered the “in” thing to buy, couples now prefer 14k gold or higher.
Simple diamonds are still a popular buy, but colored diamonds are gaining momentum too, thanks mainly to “J-Lo’s” pink princess cut diamond ring with Ben Affleck. Other popular diamond colors are yellow, blue and aquamarine.
With the ever growing popularity of platinum rings, many couples are looking to shining silver and white gold as a cheaper substitute. White gold has a similar look of platinum, but is a fraction of the price. It is a great alternative.

Shopping for a Mattress? Get In the NOW!
by: Neil Teasdale
It still amazes me to see that in almost every walk of life, consumers are looking for the latest and greatest on the market. Except when shopping for a mattress, it still seems that people are drawn to the ’same old same old’ one mattress fits all coils and springs. Ouch! But that’s not the big kicker; the big deal comes when you actually price these mattresses. To get a top quality coils and springs mattress you have to pay between $1500US -$3000US to get the comfort levels you want and then you are still really buying an expensive foundation with a memory foam pillow top, which is what is providing the comfort you feel. So, let’s say you spend $2000US, you now own a 100lb wooden box filled with coils and springs and what sold you was the $200US pillow top.

Not Air Mattress! Air Mattress Bed!
by: Neil Teasdale
Many are still confused between the difference between an air mattress and an Air Mattress Bed. Air mattresses are great in a pinch but provide minimal comfort and support and are more for portable use rather than a permanent sleep system. Air Mattress Beds not only give you the feeling of sleeping on air, but with the right materials and construction, it can be a very comfortable and supportive, permanent sleep system. Air Mattress Beds also have the unique property of allowing different comfort levels for each partner’s side of the bed. Priceless!
The idea of sleeping on an air mattress bed was first used in hospitals. Patients who were bed-ridden for extended periods of time were able to rest more comfortably, with fewer pressure points and more even support, than on a regular coil spring hospital bed. It didn’t take long before the air mattress beds made their way into the consumer market, allowing the general public an opportunity to benefit from this exciting and revolutionary technology to achieve a better night’s sleep.
The Dating Game
March 28, 2009
Why is it some people look at dating as a game while other look at it as serious “soul mate searching”? That all depends on what you searching for; a friend, a lover, or are you searching for a true lifetime commitment?
The existence of this game makes sense. Most people do not want their choice of mate to be the first person who comes along. So people explore various partners in hope of finding a good match. Some will be winners, but some will be losers in this game. Others who have played the game now have a clear idea of what they are looking for in a mate and are more inclined to settle down into a serious relationship. They key is to find someone who is at the same stage of the game as you are.
There are some people who believe they are ready to settle down but have not yet opened their minds and hearts to a real relationship. These people usually have rules that they believe they should adhere with when entering the dating world. While their intentions may be good, in their minds they have a picture of what their “perfect” soul mate will be. The problem is no one could possible ever match up to this so-called “perfect mate. So the question is are they in or out of the game? While they may truly feel ready to settle down, in reality they still date continuously trying to find the one that measures up to the standard they have set.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention
by: Sarah Mitchell
Since the early 1990s, teen pregnancies across America declined dramatically. However, it is a teen pregnancy fact that 34% of teenage girls in America still get pregnant before they turn the age of 20. This means that America has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the world. As does England; in which one in every five births in the country is from a teenager. These are shocking statistics and adults and teenagers alike should be active in teen pregnancy prevention.
Talking about sex and pregnancy
When a child reaches the age of about 13, parents should be active in approaching their child about their thoughts and ideas of sex and the possible consequences of the act. Although it can initially be embarrassing for both parties, it will pay off in the long run as education and knowledge is the best way to prevent teen pregnancy. Talk to your child about the sexually transmitted diseases and the risk of pregnancy as well as pregnancy prevent methods such as abstinence and contraception.

The Wedding Dress ? How did it all begin?
Did you ever wonder how the tradition of wearing a wedding dress came about? Wedding dresses have been worn by brides young and old alike for centuries. In modern times almost anything passes for a wedding dress however, in times of old, traditional wedding dresses were flowing gowns usually white in color.
White is usually accepted as the “traditional” color of gowns, and many designer wedding gowns are still fashioned in this color, representing the “purity” and “innocence” of the bride to be. Many women opt for other colors, including blue, pink, cream, yellow and more.
Wedding dresses have changed with time much as everything in the world has. In times of old most women selected a gown based on her financial status. Women who were at an economic disadvantage usually did not have the luxury of selecting an extraordinary gown that would be worn only once. Rather, most selected something more “plain” that could be worn for church services and other occasions after their blessed day.

Table Centerpiece Ideas
by: Alice Stacy
For special occasions like a family dinner, or when you have business associates or friends over, little finishing touches can add a lot to the dining table where you sit down to share the meal, as well as conversation and each other’s company.
Table centerpieces are the favorite decoration, and in a pinch, you can always use the silk arrangement that you keep in the china cabinet, or get a fresh flower arrangement from the local florist.
Some people however, like to exercise their preferences or creativity, and assemble their own centerpiece creations. Candelabras are extremely popular, but when considering these, keep in mind the material they are crafted from. Silver is wonderful, but cleaning something with whorls and deep troughs in the design can be very difficult. The alternative is silver-plated candelabras, but although they do look nice, just don’t have the same shine as “real” silver.
The candelabra should not dominate your table. This doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the number of candles for a small dinner party of eight. It just means you need to choose a style that is lower in the pedestal, so that guests are able to see across the table. You can still have five graduated candles with a peak in the center, which provides plenty of light and warmth to the room and the table atmosphere.
Divorce: Coping With The Family Law Process
March 25, 2009
The Emotions
Divorce is a scary, lonely and misunderstood process for most people, particularly when there are children involved. The mutual friends enjoyed during the marriage may not be of help because those individuals may not want to “pick a side.” A divorce will introduce you to an entirely new balancing act.
The Effect on Productivity at Work
You must be conscious of how the divorce process affects your ability to function on your job. There may be occasions when you will feel overwhelmed by a typical day’s workload. On such occasions, you may wish to apportion work in terms of what you can handle.
You may at times find yourself uncharacteristically testy and acerbic to friends and colleagues, uncommunicative, depressed, and distracted. You should try to be alert to these personality and mood changes and work with a counselor to solve them. At times this may involve temporarily modifying project responsibilities or adjusting assignments until you achieve a level of equanimity. On still other days, you may not be able to cope with the workplace or home environment at all, no matter how light the workload. When this happens, it may be prudent to request a brief personal leave. If your behavior and interaction cannot be altered through temporary changes, you may need to seek professional counseling during this stressful period.

The Art Of Getting Your Kids To Talk To You
by: Sintilia Miecevole
Being a parent isn’t easy. Some days just getting everyone in your family all together at the same time for dinner can seem like the “impossible dream”. Between after school sports and clubs and working and errands and carpools, it’s not surprising that almost half of the parents in a recent survey said they feel a growing distance between themselves and their children.
Today’s children have more things to deal with than kids did even twenty years ago. Drugs, violence, mixed messages in advertising, peer pressure, packed schedules and outside activities all add to the pressure they face.
So how, in the midst of all this chaos, do you find time to talk to your kids — and more importantly, have them talk back to you?
Here are several ideas that can help:
1. Eat dinner together as a family at least three times a week. Conversations flow easier when they happen around the dinner table. If your family is conversationally-challenged in the beginning, think of conversation starters before each meal. Plan a family vacation, letting each child talk about where they’d like to go, or what they’d like to do. Talk about current events, the latest movies or upcoming special events. Ask your children open-ended questions that have to be answered with more than yes or no.
